Time Blocking

“Schedule every minute of your day”: divide the workday into blocks, assign each block a task (including meals/breaks), batch shallow tasks together. Mechanism: forces intentionality about attention; the plan’s accuracy matters less than the act of planning.

How to do it

  1. Each morning divide the day into blocks; give every block a job.
  2. Batch shallow work (calls, emails) into shared blocks after deep sessions.
  3. Expect disruption: use overflow/conditional buffer blocks; re-plan mid-day without guilt.
  4. Pair with a shallow/deep grade per task: does it need focused attention? specialized skill? create new value? hard to replicate?
